Our Mission

Zakat and Sadaqa: Supporting the Needy with Your Generosity

At Overseas Afghans Foundation, we accept both Zakat and Sadaqa, ensuring your contributions make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.

Zakat is one of the Five Pillars of Islam and Zakat is a sacred obligation for all eligible Muslims. It requires donating 2.5% of your savings and wealth annually to support the less fortunate. We distribute your Zakat in strict accordance with Islamic guidelines, reaching those eligible, such as the poor, the needy, and others listed in the Quran.

Sadaqa is your voluntary contributions that fuel essential projects, such as our water well initiatives, bringing clean water to underserved communities. Every donation helps transform lives and provide hope where it’s needed most.

By donating your Zakat and Sadaqa through us, you ensure your charity reaches the most deserving, fulfilling your spiritual duty and making a tangible impact.

How to Calculate Zakat: A Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Add Your Zakatable Assets:
Include cash, gold, silver, investments (e.g., stocks), and business profits (including inventory value).

  2. Subtract Debts:
Deduct immediate expenses or debts, like unpaid bills or loans.

  3. Determine Nisab:
Zakat is obligatory if your wealth exceeds the Nisab, based on:

    • 85 grams of gold or 595 grams of silver.
Check current Nisab values online or with local Islamic organizations.

  4. Calculate 2.5%:
If above Nisab, multiply your total wealth (after debts) by 2.5% (0.025).
    Example: £2,500 × 0.025 = £62.50.

Donate Your Zakat:
Contribute through us to support those most in need, including the poor, needy, and other eligible recipients.
